Chamonix is world famous for its off-piste skiing and is is often seen as just an experts ski resort as a consequence. But whilst Chamonix is quite regarding as the mecca for expert skiing, people miss the fact that if choose carefully it is also has one of the best ski areas for family skiing.

Les Houches is an exclusive ski village just outside Chamonix, and home to the Kandahar World Cup downhill race. Whilst frequented by rich the famous (a certain golfers wife was seen at New Year with her children enjoying this picturesque ski resort), it remains warmth and family friendly appeal.

At the bottom  of the resort the 'Jardin de Niege' (childrens snow garden) offers creche facilities, and avery gentle nursery slope with a ski tow and great inflatable toys to ensure young children have a great ski experience. At the top of the Prarion Gondola, there is a great ski nursery area and green slope with its own magic carpet (travelator - slow moving rubber mat) and a slow moving chair that has been adapted for added safety for the smaller children.
